Tipping the Velvet

In 1890s England, a naïve young woman leaves her family’s seaside home after falling for a music-hall performer who presents as a man onstage. Their romance draws her into London’s bohemian world, where she faces heartbreak, exploitation, and a difficult journey toward self-knowledge and independence.

My take

You’ll likely enjoy this if you want an adult, emotionally intense period drama about sexuality, performance, and self-discovery; Not for you if you prefer restrained romance or historically understated storytelling.
