Middlemarch

In a changing 19th-century provincial town, an idealistic young woman seeks intellectual purpose in a society that limits her choices, while a new marriage brings complicated connections into her life. At the same time, an ambitious doctor’s modern approach to medicine draws him into local rivalries and a romance with a privileged young woman.
