Howards End

CriticsCritics: 91
AudienceAudience: 7.4

In Edwardian England, an idealistic woman and her sister become entangled with a wealthy industrial family and a struggling clerk. Their connections expose sharp divisions between social classes, competing ideas about progress and compassion, and the complicated consequences of people crossing boundaries set by money and status.

My take

You’ll likely enjoy this if you appreciate thoughtful, richly acted period dramas about class and social change, especially A Room with a View or The Remains of the Day; Not for you if you prefer fast plots.
