Moulin Rouge

In 1890s Paris, a physically disabled aristocratic artist finds acceptance among the dancers, performers, and bohemian crowds of a famous nightclub. As he builds a life around his art, he becomes involved with two very different women, forcing him to confront loneliness, self-doubt, and his hopes for love.

My take

You may enjoy this if you like colorful historical dramas, tortured artists, and lavish period romance; Not for you if you want a fast pace, strict biography, or the exuberance of the 2001 musical.
