My take

You’ll likely enjoy this moody Dickens tale if you want a lush, emotionally tense period story and dramatic character change; Not for you if you demand close novel faithfulness or dislike cold, emotionally distant leads—especially if you prefer David Copperfield or Jane Eyre.
