The Ascent

During a freezing World War II winter, two Soviet partisans leave their hungry group to find food. After an encounter with occupying forces leaves one wounded, they seek shelter with a local family, but capture forces them and other civilians to confront interrogation, fear, loyalty, conscience, and the brutal cost of survival.

You’ll like this if you value stark wartime dramas, moral dilemmas, and intense psychological pressure more than action; Not for you if slow pacing, bleak themes, or overt spiritual parallels frustrate you.
