Northanger Abbey

A young woman with a vivid imagination travels to Bath, where she becomes caught up in friendship, romance, and the expectations of polite society. When she visits an imposing country house, her love of Gothic novels causes her to mistake ordinary tensions for something far more sinister.

My take

You’ll enjoy this if you like light period romance, Austen-inspired social comedy, and Gothic misunderstandings, especially Persuasion; Not for you if you want a strictly faithful adaptation or sustained dramatic tension.
