In 1860s New York, a young Irish immigrant returns from prison to seek revenge against the gang leader responsible for his father's death. To reach him, he infiltrates the gang's inner circle, becoming caught in a violent struggle involving loyalty, prejudice, corruption, and the survival of his community.

My take

You’ll like this if you enjoy brutal historical crime dramas, intense rivalries, and commanding performances, especially in films such as The Departed or The Untouchables; Not for you if long, violent stories feel exhausting.
