The Upside

A wealthy man with quadriplegia hires a struggling parolee as his caretaker in a New York penthouse. Though they come from very different worlds, their unusual working arrangement gradually develops into a meaningful friendship while each faces personal challenges and tries to reconnect with family and everyday life.

My take

You’ll likely enjoy this uplifting, funny drama if you like heartfelt friendships and serious performances, especially in films such as Fatherhood or A Man Called Otto; Not for you if familiar remakes frustrate you.
