The Passion of the Christ

CriticsCritics: 49
AudienceAudience: 7.5

This film depicts the final hours of a revered religious figure’s life, following arrest, trial, and a brutal public punishment under an occupying power. Told largely through intense imagery and sparse dialogue in ancient languages, it focuses on suffering, faith, and the reactions of those who witness the ordeal.

My take

If you want an intense, faith-centered historical drama that doesn’t hold back on brutality, this may resonate, but it’s not for you if graphic, prolonged suffering or a familiar story with limited plot surprises turns you off.
