Leaving Las Vegas

A disgraced alcoholic screenwriter travels to Las Vegas with plans to drink himself to death. There, he meets a prostitute, and the two form an uneasy friendship built on companionship, acceptance, and a promise not to interfere with each other’s destructive choices.

My take

You’ll appreciate this stark, emotionally intense drama if you value powerful performances and difficult subject matter; Not for you if you want light entertainment, optimism, or an easy romance like Beginners.
