Decade Of Fire
In the 1970s, fires consumed the South Bronx. Black and Puerto Rican residents were blamed, even as they fought to save their homes. Vivian Vázquez Irizarry pursues the truth around the fires, uncovering racist policies and neglect that shape our cities.
My takeA meticulously researched investigation into the systematic destruction of the South Bronx through fire and policy. This is essential viewing that confronts uncomfortable truths about racism, urban neglect, and resilience—the kind of documentary that rewires how you see American cities.
