The Evangelist

Theater director Danny is a gay atheist who adopts 12-year-old foster child Gideon only to discover the kid is a religious fanatic. When Danny reluctantly agrees to help Gideon on a mission to convert the locals to Christianity, the increasingly radical ideas start to create trouble in the community.

My take

A clever comedy-drama about an unlikely family collision when a gay atheist theater director and his religiously zealous foster son clash over faith and belonging. Funny, awkward, and genuinely warm—perfect for anyone who loves character-driven stories about finding common ground across divides.
