The Chosen

Set in 1940s New York, two Jewish teenage boys form a close friendship while facing pressure from their families’ sharply different beliefs and traditions. Their bond leads them to better understand their families, their community, and the difficult choices surrounding their futures.

My take

You’ll like this if you enjoy thoughtful coming-of-age dramas such as Avalon, with strong family themes and cultural conflict; Not for you if you want fast pacing, comedy, or action.
