The Adolescent

AudienceAudience: 5.9

In the summer of 1939, 13-year-old Marie goes with her parents to visit her grandparents in a small town near Avignon. Marie discovers her femininity and falls for a young Jewish doctor, but he prefers Eva, Marie's mother.

My take

Arlo here—this is a beautifully unsettling dive into the turbulent inner world of a teenage girl finding her way through confusion and desire. It's got that European art-house sensibility where every awkward moment and small rebellion feels genuinely lived-in, like watching someone discover themselves in real time.
