My take

You may like Star Trek: Discovery if you enjoy ambitious space adventure, big emotional stakes, and a more modern take on the franchise; Not for you if you want a lighter, more optimistic Trek feel, or something closer to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds or The Orville.
