Portrait of a Lady on Fire

On an isolated island in eighteenth-century Brittany, a female painter is hired to create a wedding portrait of a young woman who resists the marriage awaiting her. As they spend time together, their guarded relationship develops amid questions of art, freedom, and the limited choices available to women.
