Lionheart

A deserter arrives in the United States after learning that his brother is gravely injured. With his family facing overwhelming medical bills and financial hardship, he enters a dangerous underground fighting circuit to earn money while trying to avoid those pursuing him.

My take

You’ll enjoy this if you like straightforward martial-arts action, underdog drama, and early-1990s B-movie energy; Not for you if you need realism, polished writing, or restrained fight sequences.
