High Noon

On his wedding day, a retiring sheriff learns that a notorious outlaw he once imprisoned will arrive on the noon train with a gang seeking revenge. Though urged to leave, he returns to town and tries to gather a posse, only to find the community unwilling to stand with him.

My take

You’ll like this if you enjoy tense, character-driven westerns such as Rio Bravo or Shane, especially stories about duty and social pressure; Not for you if you want constant action or sweeping frontier spectacle.
