Based in Brighton, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace finds his career at a low point as he deals with reprimands and a tightrope at work. Haunted by the disappearance of his beloved wife, he also revisits long-forgotten cold cases, even as chances of success look bleak.

My take

If you like darker, more complex detective cases with tight plotting, Grace should fit; Not for you if you prefer lighter, faster-moving police shows like Endeavour or Karen Pirie.
