Gladiator

A teenager moves with his father to Chicago and struggles to fit into a tough new neighborhood. After a street fight draws attention, he is pulled into illegal underground boxing, where dangerous matches offer money but place his friendships, safety, and sense of right and wrong at risk.

My take

You’ll enjoy this if you like gritty, violent underdog boxing stories with friendship, crime, and a pulsing early-’90s feel; Not for you if you want subtle drama or realistic, rule-bound sports action.
