Escape from New York

In a crime-ravaged future, Manhattan has become a walled prison where dangerous inmates rule the streets. When the U.S. president crash-lands inside, a hardened former war hero is sent into the island with only 24 hours to find him and bring him back.

My take

You’ll like this if you enjoy gritty 1980s genre films, anti-heroes, strange characters, and moody world-building; Not for you if you want nonstop action, deep characterization, or a tightly developed plot.
