Caught Stealing

A burned-out former baseball player living in late-1990s New York agrees to watch a neighbor’s cat, only to become entangled in a violent criminal underworld. As strangers close in and the police grow suspicious, he must rely on quick thinking and desperation to survive a situation far beyond his experience.

My take

You’ll likely enjoy this if you want a fast, violent, darkly comic crime thriller with gritty New York atmosphere and colorful characters; Not for you if graphic violence, familiar twists, or tonal inconsistency are dealbreakers.
