A Most Violent Year

In New York City during the winter of 1981, an immigrant business owner and his family try to expand their heating-oil company while violence, corruption, and financial pressure threaten everything they have built. He struggles to protect his principles in an industry where competitors play by harsher rules.

My take

You’ll like this if you enjoy restrained, character-driven crime dramas such as The Long Good Friday, but Not for you if you want frequent action, rapid pacing, or a straightforward gangster thriller.
