A Chinese Ghost Story
CriticsCritics: 72
AudienceAudience: 7.5
A timid tax collector takes shelter in a haunted temple, where he meets and falls for a beautiful ghost. With help from a formidable Daoist swordsman, he faces undead creatures, a sinister tree demoness, and a dangerous journey into the underworld to help free the spirit he loves.
My takeYou’ll likely enjoy this if you like wild Hong Kong blends of romance, horror, comedy, fantasy, and swordplay, especially films such as Green Snake or Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain; Not for you if you prefer restrained realism.
