A lonely nine-year-old boy lives with his father in a failing motel far from town. As boredom, isolation, and neglect shape his daily life, his fascination with death grows increasingly disturbing, bringing unexpected visitors and dangerous consequences.

My take

You may enjoy this bleak, unsettling character study if you prefer psychological dramas and patient slow burns; Not for you if you want frequent scares, fast action, or a conventional horror story.
