The Boy and the Heron

During the Second World War, a grieving teenage boy moves to a rural home with his father and pregnant stepmother. After a mysterious gray heron draws him toward an old tower, he enters a strange world filled with magic, danger, and unsettling creatures, forcing him to confront loss and change.

You’ll like this if you enjoy imaginative, emotionally resonant anime such as Spirited Away or Children Who Chase Lost Voices; Not for you if you prefer clear rules, linear storytelling, and neatly explained plots.
