Strait Up: The Lost Art Of The Approach

In early 2018, an unlikely team of 2 Americans and 2 Australians became the first to combine kayaking and rock climbing in a crossing of the Bass Strait. The Kent Group of islands between mainland Australia and Tasmania are comprised of beautiful, mostly unclimbed granite sea cliffs. Instead of hiring a boat to access the islands, the team decided to bring back “the lost art of the approach” and kayak there, a 325km crossing in total.

My take

A breathtaking expedition film that captures the raw spirit of adventure and human ingenuity. Four climbers revive a forgotten approach to exploration by kayaking and climbing their way across Australia's most remote granite islands—it's the kind of doc that makes you feel alive and inspired.
