Solastalgia

Solastalgia — a form of mental or existential distress caused by environmental change — is at the heart of this short documentary that reflects on climate change, nostalgia, and loss through the eyes of Serap, a Sherpa living and working as an Uber driver in New York City, far away from his hometown in Nepal. Although he moved to the U.S. eight years ago to provide a better education and safer life for his three children, his mind often drifts to the Himalayas that he misses tremendously.

A quietly devastating portrait of displacement and longing. This short documentary sits with one man's grief over a changing homeland, exploring how climate loss ripples through lives lived between two worlds. Contemplative and deeply human.
