Scream of the Wolf

After brutal, animalistic murders, Sheriff Bell asks ex-hunter John Weatherby to investigate. Weatherby finds wolf-like, bipedal prints with no scent. His reclusive friend, Byron Douglas (previously bitten by a wolf they hunted), refuses aid, finding the fear enlivening the town. The mystery deepens around the strange killer and Byron's past.

My take

A slow-burn creature mystery that trades jump scares for mounting paranoia. Perfect for horror fans who appreciate atmospheric dread and the tension between man and nature—where the real terror comes from not knowing what you're hunting.
