In a racially divided South Carolina town during the 1970s, a high school football coach befriends a developmentally disabled young man after finding him mistreated near the practice field. Their bond brings him into the school and team community, but faces resistance from people worried that compassion may interfere with the pursuit of success.

My take

You’ll like this if you enjoy uplifting sports dramas such as Remember the Titans and We Are Marshall; Not for you if you prefer restrained, complex stories that avoid emotional manipulation.
