Pinocchio: Unstrung

Created by a toymaker and influenced by a sinister cricket, a wooden puppet sets out on a violent quest to become a real boy. His path is tied to a brother who already has what he wants, driving a dark reimagining of a familiar fairy tale.

My take

You may enjoy this if you like dark, violent fairy-tale horror with engaging characters and tension that builds naturally; Not for you if you prefer gentle, family-friendly takes on classic stories.
