Inkheart

A father and his young daughter go on an adventure to find a long-lost book that could reunite a missing close relative. Their search pulls them into danger as characters and objects from stories seem to escape the pages and change their real world.

My take

If you enjoy family-friendly fantasies with storybook magic, you may like Inkheart, but Not for you if you want an ultra-original take or a tightly explained plot; it may appeal more than The Spiderwick Chronicles or The Thief Lord.
