Cockfighter

After a devastating loss in the underground cockfighting world, a determined Southern trainer takes a vow of silence to rebuild himself with discipline, focus, and purpose. This drama movie stars Warren Oates (The Wild Bunch) in a deeply moving performance, joined by Harry Dean Stanton (Paris, Texas) and Ed Begley Jr. (Ghostbusters). Directed by Monte Hellman, it's a cult classic of 1970s American cinema, a powerful story of personal redemption and the unwavering pursuit of a second chance.

My take

A quietly intense character study about a man rebuilding himself from scratch through discipline and silence. It's the kind of film that demands your full attention—austere, meditative, and deeply rewarding for anyone who finds beauty in slow-burn redemption.
