Basement

Roger is searching for answers regarding family tragedies that have been unresolved. The added responsibilities of paying his mother's medical bills and managing his fathers coffee shop, changes Roger's life dramatically. The compiled pressures of his responsibilities, uncertainties of his past relationship with his father and his own loneliness trigger his obsession in finding the truth. Roger believes that an exterminator named Guy knows the answers. Down in the basement of the coffee shop Guy is handcuffed, chained and questioned. Only in communicating with his father does he open up and we see a sensitive, insecure Roger. The taped surveillance of the robbery leading to murder makes Roger strongly believe Guy is the one responsible for destroying his life. Until, the Junkie breaks into the coffee shop. In this confrontation Roger begins having doubts. The answers are slowly revealed.

My take

A psychological thriller that traps you in moral ambiguity and doubt. Roger's desperate search for truth becomes a pressure cooker of obsession, isolation, and creeping uncertainty—perfect for viewers who crave tension that builds from within.
